The Jigsaw Doctor - Missing jigsaw puzzle piece replacement

The cost is same for replacement cardboard and wooden jigsaw
pieces, and independent of the size**.
** We reserve the right to charge extra for the replacement
of extremely large jigsaw pieces.

Important note about shipping
Shipping costs are higher than usual, as we will return your
original jigsaw pieces and replacement piece using a service
that requires a signature upon receipt. For UK deliveries we
use Royal Mail Recorded Delivery. For international deliveries
we use International Signed for. Both of these services have
some compensation for loss. We recommend that you use a similar
service to send your Jigsaw Puzzles
pieces to the Jigsaw Doctor. The Jigsaw Doctor is not responsible
for any losses in the mail and we recommend you review and consider
the possibility and cost of such a loss, particularly if your
jigsaw puzzle is irreplaceable. To avoid uneccessary customs
duty, when completing the customs form please do not mark the
value of the package as greater than US$25 (£18). If this
is not complied with, and customs apply import duty, we will

INSTRUCTIONS
 STEP
1 - Complete the jigsaw puzzle and identify the missing piece(s).
First put the jigsaw puzzle together to check for the missing
piece(s).
 STEP 2 - Put the surrounding
pieces in a good quality envelope*, along with your details
If you are going to be able to send a scanned image of the
picture from the box of your jigsaw puzzle, you only need send
the surrounding (usually 8) pieces (see Figure 1).
Instructions for scanning your picture follow in step 3.
If you are unable to supply a copy picture from the box, then
we recommend you send the surrounding 24 pieces (2 layers of
surrounding pieces) from your jigsaw puzzle (see Figure 2)
The Jigsaw Doctor needs more puzzle
pieces to construct the missing image if you are unable to supply
a copy of the original.
If you are sending pieces from a wooden jigsaw that has lots
of different shaped pieces and 'whimsies', please make sure that
you send enough interlocking pieces so that there is a
stable set of pieces that cannot move against each other. If
you feel that there is any chance that me may not be able to
make the correct sized piece because there are not enough pieces,
then add some more.
Repeat the above for each missing jigsaw puzzle piece to be
replaced.
Note: Two adjacent missing pieces will be replaced by one
larger replacement piece. Please make a purchase for only ONE
replacement piece to replace two adjacent pieces.
Put the pieces in a good quality padded envelope or packet*.
* IMPORTANT: PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOU JIGSAW PUZZLE PIECES
IN ANY TYPE OF BOX, UNLESS YOU DO NOT WANT THE BOX TO BE RETURNED.
Our postage rates are based on return of the pieces in a padded
envelope and will not cover the additional weight of a box.
Please also provide the following information on a piece
of paper with your jigsaw puzzle pieces:-
- Your name
- Your full mailing address*
- Your telephone number (in case we need to contact you)*
- Your e-mail address*
- The title or name of the jigsaw puzzle, if you can find it.
(Please look around on the jigsaw puzzle box).

STEP
3 (OPTIONAL) - Scan and e-mail a copy of the picture FROM THE
BOX (not a picture of the completed jigsaw showing the missing
piece(s))
(You can skip this step if you don't have the picture or
a flatbed scanner, or are happy to let the Jigsaw Doctor try
and re-create the missing part of the image using clues from
the surrounding pieces).
 Please
note that it is a picture of the missing section of the jigsaw
puzzle picture that we require (i.e. FROM THE BOX LID), and not
a photograph of the puzzle with the missing piece.
We request the picture from the box so that we can see the
part of the image that is missing. A photograph of the puzzle
with the piece missing does not provide us with the information
we require.
If you have the box or packet with the picture of what your
finished jigsaw puzzle looks like, it will help the Jigsaw Doctor
if you can send a scanned image of the relevant part of the picture.
If you have a flatbed scanner you can e-mail a copy of the picture
to the Jigsaw Doctor. We will scan the pieces, but the part of
the picture that contains the missing piece will help us reconstruct
it.
Don't worry if you can't get the whole box or picture on the
scanner. You only need to send the part of the picture that contains
the missing piece(s).
- Scan the picture at 300 DPI (dots per inch) using
FULL COLOUR. Usually the scanner's default settings should produce
good results. If the picture comes out too light or too dark,
or the colours look "washed out" or wrong, try changing
the settings until you get better results.
- Save the scanned picture as a JPEG file using your
own name in the filename (e.g. johnsmith1.jpg).
- Attach the scanned image to an e-mail. Please include
the following information in the body of your e-mail message:
- Your name
- Your full mailing address
- Your telephone number (in case we need to contact you)
- Your e-mail address
- E-mail the scanned image
STEP 4 - Payment
The payment button and prices follow these instructions:
Pay on-line, or put your cheque / postal order / money
order in the envelope with the pieces. Payment may be made in
the following ways:
- On-line via the PayPal secure credit card transaction service
(A PayPal account is NOT REQUIRED to pay online).
- International Money Order (in Pounds Sterling)
- Cheque (UK only)
- Postal Order (UK only)
Once the Jigsaw Doctor has received your order you will receive
confirmation by e-mail. If you pay on-line via PayPal, you will
receive confirmation of your order by PayPal and from The Jigsaw
Doctor (Quantum Enterprises).
If you wish to order more than one replacement piece at a
time:
- If you are using PayPal, simply change the quantity of items
in your shopping basket to the number of pieces you wish to have
replaced. You will notice that subsequent shipping charges are
much lower for multiple orders, so this is a much more cost-effective
way to replace pieces if you have several jigsaw puzzles that
require repair.
- If you are paying by a different method, please look at the
prices below to calculate the total cost. Don't forget to add
shipping to your order, and note that shipping costs after the
first piece are considerably lower. If you have any questions
about payment, or require confirmation of the cost, please contact us.
